Why do we train the way we do on Studio Era?

How we help you get toned, not bulky

Updated over 2 weeks ago

At Studio Era, we use a variety of workout styles and interval timers, all designed to help you:

  • Burn fat

  • Sculpt your muscles

  • Fit exercise into your daily life

This isn’t bodybuilder-style training. You won’t find 3-minute rests between sets or 90-minute gym sessions here. We’re about getting results efficiently and consistently — with training that works with your lifestyle, not against it.

How Intervals Work Inside Studio Era

We use a broad range of interval timers depending on the goal of the workout. Here’s a breakdown of the most common formats:

40/20 (or similar)

These slower-paced intervals are strength-focused — think controlled reps, proper form, and time under tension. You’ll lift heavier (for your level) and really feel the muscle burn without rushing through sets.

30/10 (or similar)

This format brings intensity. The short rest keeps your heart rate high, but it’s not just cardio — these sessions still promote strength building when you’re lifting challenging weights with good form.

You might’ve heard that “real” strength training requires long rest periods. And that’s true — if you’re training for max strength or bodybuilding. But that’s not our goal here. We’re not prepping for Mr. Olympia. We’re training to build a lean, sculpted physique — and doing it in a way that fits a busy lifestyle.

Yes, you’ll build muscle with Studio Era — but if your main goal is maximum hypertrophy or traditional bodybuilding, another training style or platform may be more suitable.

What Are We Actually Training For?

Our core philosophy is simple: Fat loss through diet + muscle tone through training.

We prioritize nutrition to drive fat loss — and we train to shape, strengthen, and reveal the toned body underneath.

If you only diet without strength training, you may lose weight but end up with what’s often called the “skinny-fat” look — smaller frame, but no visible muscle tone. That’s why we combine both. This is how you get that firm, defined look once the fat starts to come off.

Workout Types You’ll See

Not every Studio Era workout is the same — and that’s by design. Across our programs, you’ll find a mix of:

  • Strength-dominant workouts – Slower and more controlled. Focused on lifting and shaping muscle.

  • Cardio-dominant workouts – Fast-paced, sweat-heavy sessions to build endurance and fitness. (Still with a strength-building component.)

  • Hybrid workouts – A blend of both, designed for full-body conditioning and fat-burning.

Each type plays a role in the bigger picture — and our programs are intentionally designed to give you the right balance, so you’re not guessing what to do next or accidentally overtraining the same muscle group.

Best Way to Use the Workouts

To get the best results (fat loss + visible tone), here’s what we recommend:

  1. Follow one of our guided programs

Structured for progression and variety — so you’re training smart, not randomly.

  2. Eat for fat loss

Use our meal plans or macro tools. Training shapes the body, but nutrition is what reveals it.

  3. Stay consistent

The magic isn’t in doing everything perfectly — it’s in showing up consistently. Even 3–4 sessions a week will make a difference.

Final Thoughts

This style of training is intentional. It’s efficient, effective, and built to help you sculpt a lean, strong body without spending hours in the gym.

Some workouts are slower and strength-based. Others are faster-paced and conditioning-based. Both have a place — and that’s why you’ll see a blend of interval styles and training types throughout your program.

Together, they help you get the most out of your time, feel confident in your body, and actually enjoy the process.
