Play workouts on your Roku TV

Updated over a week ago

When casting your workouts to a Roku TV, you may notice that the cast icon doesn’t appear. This is expected, Roku TV devices don’t support native casting from iPhones, and some Android devices may also experience compatibility issues.

The good news is there is a simple workaround. You can use a free app such as Screen Mirroring for Roku on your phone.

Mirror your phone using “Screen Mirroring for Roku”

  1. Download the app on your phone

    • On iPhone or Android, open the App Store or Google Play

    • Search for Screen Mirroring for Roku (look for one by AirBeamTV or iStreamer)

    • Download and install the app. It is free.

  2. Connect your devices

    • Make sure your phone and Roku TV are connected to the same WiFi network. This is required for mirroring to work.

  3. Select your Roku TV

    • Open the mirroring app

    • The app will scan for nearby devices

    • Choose your Roku TV from the list

  4. Start screen mirroring

    • Follow the prompts in the app

    • Approve any permissions it asks for

    • If you are on iPhone, you may be asked to start Broadcast. Go ahead and allow it.

  5. Play your workout

    • Open the Studio Era app and start your workout. Your phone screen will now appear on your Roku TV, and workouts will play in full screen.

Notes:

  • The free version of the mirroring app works well for workouts, but you may see a short advertisement when starting the app.

  • Audio and video quality may vary depending on your WiFi speed.
