When does Back to Sculpt start?

Back to Sculpt officially runs from September 1 through September 30.

Back to Sculpt will be available in the Studio Era app before September 1 so you can add it to your schedule and get ready for the challenge.

Is Back to Sculpt included with my Studio Era membership?

Yes. Back to Sculpt is included with an active Studio Era membership. You do not need to purchase the challenge separately or choose a promotional membership to participate.

Your membership status

What you need to do

Existing Studio Era member

If your membership is active, open the Studio Era app and add Back to Sculpt to your schedule.

New Studio Era member

Start a Studio Era membership, then sign in to the app using the same email address you used at checkout.

Active free trial

You can access Back to Sculpt while your Studio Era membership access is active.

Former or cancelled member

You’ll need to reactivate or start an active Studio Era membership before you can access Back to Sculpt.

Membership and challenge access are separate steps
Starting or having a Studio Era membership gives you access to Studio Era. You still need to add Back to Sculpt to your schedule to start the challenge.

For membership prices and free-trial, see Pricing, plans, and current promotions.

How do I join Back to Sculpt?

To add Back to Sculpt to your workout schedule:

  1. Open the Studio Era app.

  2. Tap Explore.

  3. Find Back to Sculpt and open the program.

  4. Tap Add to Schedule.

  5. Select September 1 as your start date.

ℹ️ Choose September 1 as your start date
Back to Sculpt follows a set challenge calendar, with workout videos released shortly before their scheduled challenge days. Choosing an earlier start date can put your schedule ahead of the workout release calendar, which means you could see Coming Soon placeholders instead of the workout you’re expecting.

Adding Back to Sculpt will replace the workout program currently assigned to your schedule, so make a note of your current program, week, and day before switching if you’d like to return to it later.

See How to start a challenge for step-by-step screenshots of adding a challenge to your schedule.

I accidentally set Back to Sculpt to start before September 1. How do I fix it?

If you added Back to Sculpt with a start date before September 1, the recommended option is to remove the program from your schedule and add it again with September 1 as the start date.

  1. Open Back to Sculpt in the Studio Era app.

  2. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the program page.

  3. Tap Remove from Schedule.

  4. Go back to Explore and open Back to Sculpt again.

  5. Tap Add to Schedule.

  6. Select September 1 as your start date.

ℹ️For this correction, avoid using Update Schedule
Removing Back to Sculpt and adding it again with the correct start date is the recommended way to keep your workout schedule aligned with the challenge calendar and workout releases.

Can I join Back to Sculpt after September 1?

Yes. You can join Back to Sculpt at any time, and there is no joining deadline.

If you join after September 1, you can:

  • Start from Day 1, or

  • Jump in where the live challenge currently is.

When you add the program to your schedule, choose a start point that is already available in the challenge. Back to Sculpt workouts are released progressively, so future days can still show Coming Soon placeholders until their workout videos are released.

But if you can, join us for the official September 1–30 challenge. That’s when everyone is moving through Back to Sculpt together, checking in, sharing progress and bringing the energy in the Studio Era community.

Join us from Day 1 💞
There’s something different about starting together and showing up together for the full 30 days. Grab your equipment, take your before photos and meet us on Day 1.

Can’t make the September dates? No stress — Back to Sculpt will remain available in Explore after the live challenge ends.

What workouts are included in Back to Sculpt?

Back to Sculpt includes 15 sculpting workouts across 30 days, with one sculpting workout scheduled every other day.

Each sculpt workout is about 30 minutes and includes a mix of:

  • Arms

  • Abs

  • Inner thighs

  • Glutes

  • Full-body sculpting

  • Pilates-inspired work

There are no separate three-, four- or five-day versions of Back to Sculpt. The challenge follows one 30-day schedule, with walk days already built between the sculpt workouts.

How do the walk days and 8,000 steps work?

Back to Sculpt has a daily goal of 8,000 steps throughout the challenge.

On the days between sculpt workouts, you’ll also have a scheduled walk, usually 60 minutes and sometimes 90 minutes.

Your walk counts toward your steps 👣
Any steps you take during your scheduled walk count toward your daily 8,000-step goal. You do not need to finish the walk and then complete another 8,000 steps.

How is Back to Sculpt different from a regular Studio Era workout program?

Back to Sculpt is a shorter, fixed 30-day challenge designed around one shared schedule.

Regular Studio Era workout programs are longer and may offer different training frequencies. Back to Sculpt keeps it simple: a sculpt workout every other day, walk days in between, and one 30-day schedule to follow.

During September, you can also complete the challenge alongside other members in the Studio Era community.

What equipment do I need?

For Back to Sculpt, you’ll need:

  • Dumbbells

  • A booty band

  • A sturdy chair

  • A yoga block

Maddie uses 5, 10, 15 and 20 lb dumbbells throughout the challenge. These are recommended options—you do not need to own every weight in that range.

Use the weights that make sense for you. A lighter set is completely fine, and beginners can also use very light weights or no added weight when appropriate.

What if I don’t have all the equipment?

If you don’t have a booty band, some banded movements can be performed without the band using bodyweight instead.

If a chair is being used only for balance or support, use a stable, non-wheeled surface of a similar height. Avoid furniture or surfaces that could move underneath you.

If you don’t have a yoga block, you can use a firm, stable surface of a similar height when the block is only being used for light support or elevation. Avoid soft, slippery, stacked, or unstable items.

If an exercise depends on a specific piece of equipment for safe setup or execution, use the intended equipment rather than improvising with something unstable.

Is Back to Sculpt suitable for beginners?

Yes. Beginners can follow Back to Sculpt.

If you’re newer to strength training:

  • Start with lighter dumbbells or no added weight.

  • Move at a pace that lets you stay in control.

  • Take additional rest when you need it.

  • Use an alternative shown by Maddie when one is provided.

Maddie often gives different options as she coaches a workout, but a modification is not built into every exercise.

If you need an exercise changed because of an injury, pregnancy, postpartum recovery or another medical consideration, see the health guidance below.

Do I need to follow a meal plan during Back to Sculpt?

You do not need to follow a specific Back to Sculpt meal plan. The challenge uses the nutrition tools already available in your Studio Era app rather than a separate challenge-only plan.

That doesn’t mean nutrition is separate from the challenge. For the best support alongside your workouts, we recommend following the calorie target shown in your Studio Era app as your baseline.

You can do that in the way that works best for you:

  • Follow your Studio Era meal plan.

  • Build your own meals while staying around your recommended calorie target.

  • Use your calorie and protein targets to guide your food choices throughout the challenge.

Workouts + nutrition work together 🤝
Your workouts are one part of Back to Sculpt. Staying consistent with the nutrition targets in your Studio Era app can help support your training and the progress you’re working toward.

For help using your meal plan, see How to use a meal plan?

Is there a Back to Sculpt community?

Yes. The shared community experience is a big part of Back to Sculpt.

Join the Studio Era Society and head to the Challenges section to follow challenge posts and check-ins throughout the month.

Challenge check-ins are a place to share things like:

  • Your completed workout

  • A workout selfie

  • Your walk

  • Meals you’re enjoying

  • Your progress or check-in

  • Encouragement for other members doing the challenge

Showing up in the community regularly is encouraged for the accountability and shared experience, but you can access your Back to Sculpt workouts whether or not you post.

If you haven’t joined yet, see Join the Studio Era community.

How should I track my progress during Back to Sculpt?

Before Day 1, take your first progress check-in using Studio Era’s normal Progress feature.

At the end of the 30 days, take another check-in so you can compare your before and after photos and see your progress across the month.

Back to Sculpt does not use a separate photo or progress tool. Your before and after photos are saved through the normal Studio Era progress feature.

For step-by-step instructions, see Progress Tracking.

What happens to the workout program I’m already following?

Adding Back to Sculpt to your schedule will replace your current scheduled workout program.

Existing programs
Your previous workout program will not automatically return when Back to Sculpt ends. Before switching, make a note of the program name, week and workout day you’re currently on.

When you’re ready to return:

  1. Open Explore.

  2. Find your previous workout program.

  3. Add it to your schedule again.

  4. Resume from the week and workout you noted before switching.

Your Studio Era profile and saved progress stay with your account as long as you continue using the same Studio Era account/email.

For more help returning to a program, see How to pause/save/resume your workout program.

What happens if I miss a Back to Sculpt workout?

Missing a workout doesn’t mean you’re out of the challenge.

Back to Sculpt workouts cannot be moved to a different date in the Workout Planner, but you can still open any challenge workout and complete it later.

So if you miss a day, you can go back and complete that workout when it works for you, then continue with the rest of the challenge.

💗Don’t stress about making every day perfect—just get back into the rhythm and keep going.

What happens after September 30?

The shared September challenge ends on September 30, but Back to Sculpt does not disappear.

Back to Sculpt will remain available in Explore, so you can start it later or come back to it again after the live challenge month has ended.

If Back to Sculpt replaced another workout program in your schedule, remember that your previous program will not return automatically. You can add it again from Explore whenever you’re ready.

Why can’t I see Back to Sculpt in the app?

Back to Sculpt is available in the Explore section of the Studio Era app before the challenge begins on September 1.

If you can’t find the program:

  1. Open Explore and look for Back to Sculpt.

  2. Fully close the Studio Era app and reopen it.

  3. Check Explore again.

If Back to Sculpt still isn’t appearing, contact Studio Era Support so we can take a closer look.

Already see Back to Sculpt, but some workouts say Coming Soon? 🔜
That’s a different issue. Back to Sculpt workouts are released progressively, so future challenge days will show placeholders until their workout videos are available.

Why can’t I see all of the Back to Sculpt workouts yet?

Back to Sculpt workouts are released progressively throughout the challenge, so the full month of workout videos will not be available at once.

If you’re following along with the live challenge:

  • Upcoming Sculpt workouts are released ahead of their scheduled day.

  • The walk that follows each Sculpt workout is released at the same time.

  • Workouts scheduled for later in the challenge can show a Coming Soon placeholder until the full workout video is released.

Joining later? Workouts that have already been released will be available, while later workouts will become available as the challenge progresses.

It’s also normal to see an upcoming workout a little early. Coming Soon is expected only for future challenge days that haven’t been released yet. If a workout is scheduled for today or an earlier challenge day, it should already be available. If it is still showing Coming Soon or appears to be missing, fully close and reopen the Studio Era app. If it still doesn’t appear, contact Studio Era Support so we can take a look.

I paid for Studio Era, but I still can’t access Back to Sculpt

Don’t purchase again. If you already paid for a Studio Era membership, do not purchase another membership just to access Back to Sculpt.

If Back to Sculpt isn’t available even though you have an active membership, contact Studio Era Support so the team can check whether your membership and app account are connected correctly.

If available, include:

  • The email address you used when purchasing

  • The email address you’re using to sign in

  • A screenshot of what you see in the app

  • Your payment or order confirmation

You can still contact Support if you don’t have all of these details.

Can I do Back to Sculpt if I’m pregnant, postpartum, injured or managing a medical condition?

Studio Era cannot determine whether Back to Sculpt—or a specific exercise within it—is medically appropriate for your individual circumstances.

Before beginning or changing an exercise or nutrition routine, speak with a qualified healthcare professional who understands your situation.

Studio Era Support can explain:

  • The Back to Sculpt schedule

  • Workout length and frequency

  • Equipment used

  • General workout features

  • Whether Maddie provides an alternative within a particular workout

Studio Era Support cannot provide medical clearance, injury rehabilitation plans, pregnancy-specific exercise prescriptions or personalized medical advice.
